About Shearsman Books
Online retailer for poetry books established in 1981
Shearsman Books have been a Website Sorted client since 2013. Tony Frazer the owner says he has been editing Shearsman and Shearsman Books since 1981. Apart from this, he has edited the anthology A State of Independence (1998) for Stride Publications, and Roy Fisher's Interviews Though Time (Shearsman Books, 2000; 2nd edition 2013). He was also co-editor of the poetry selection in Chicago Review's special double issue New Writing in German (2002), and has been an occasional translator of contemporary German poets — although he has not done this seriously for a few years now, as time has been at a premium. Giramondo Publishing, Sydney, published a collection of his translations of Lutz Seiler in May 2005 as In the year one — Selected Poems (copies of which may be ordered in the UK from Shearsman Books).

THE BRIEF
What they needed
Shearsman Books have been a Website Sorted client since 2013 and they responded to our advice to refresh their already successful eCommerce website designing a new logo, moving to an SSL secure platform and fully device responsive solution. The objective was to modernise the brand, take advantage of the market for ever increasing mobile searches (accounting for nearly 50% of their traffic across all search engines) and ensure compliance with GDPR regulations.
We were tasked to provide a user friendly website to render across all devices making the process to find and purchase a poetry book as simple as possible. We streamlined the customer purchase process to improve the customer experience and enhanced the back-end functionality. The end result has improved both productivity, saving a significant amount of time and money, and conversion rates.
A key factor was to successfully maintain and enhance their existing websites optimisation. You can find www.shearsman.com on the first page of Google for all UK related searches.
